Gateway Response Codes

Gateway response codes are values that are composed of two digits indicating the status or failure reason of a given payment. Response code are only available when the payment has been sent through the acquirer gateway and will be null otherwise.

These codes are applicate to Card and Apple Pay payments.

02Refer to Issuer, specialfailedThe card's bank found an issue. Contact the bank or try another card.
03No MerchantfailedThe merchant ID is invalid. Contact your bank with the correct merchant account number.
04Pick Up CardfailedThe bank declined the transaction and wants the card to be kept due to it being reported lost or stolen. Use another card.
05Do Not HonourfailedThe bank declined the transaction due to a security issue or lack of funds. Use another card.
06ErrorfailedThe card's bank declined the transaction due to a card number error. Contact the bank or try another card.
07Pick Up Card, SpecialfailedThe bank declined the transaction and wants the card to be kept due to it being reported lost or stolen. Use another card.
08Honor With IdentificationpaidThe transaction was successful. This code is sometimes used instead of '00'.
09Request In ProgressfailedThe card's bank found an issue. Contact the bank or try another card.
10Approved For Partial AmountpaidThe transaction was successful.
11Approved, VIPpaidThe transaction was successful. (Not used in Australia.)
12Invalid TransactionfailedThe bank declined the transaction due to incorrect information. Check and retry.
13Invalid AmountfailedThere's an error with the amount entry. Check your website’s code.
14Invalid Card NumberfailedThe bank declined the transaction because the card number does not exist. Check the details and retry.
15No IssuerfailedThe card's bank does not exist. Check the details and retry.
16Approved, Update Track 3paidThe transaction was successful.
19Re-enter Last TransactionfailedThe transaction was not processed. Try processing again.
21No Action TakenfailedThe card's bank found an issue. Contact the bank or try another card.
22Suspected MalfunctionfailedThe bank could not be contacted during the transaction. Check the details and retry.
23Unacceptable Transaction FeefailedAn unspecified error occurred.
25Unable to Locate Record On FilefailedThe bank does not recognize the card details. Check the details and retry.
30Format ErrorfailedThe bank does not recognize the transaction details. Check and retry, noting the TID might be incorrect.
31Bank Not Supported By SwitchfailedThe bank declined the transaction for mail/telephone, fax, email, or internet orders, particularly with a Discover Card. Use another card.
33Expired Card, CapturefailedThe bank declined the transaction because the card has expired. Check the expiry date and retry.
34Suspected Fraud, Retain CardfailedThe bank suspects fraud on this card.
35Card Acceptor, Contact Acquirer, Retain CardfailedThe bank declined the transaction and wants the card to be kept due to it being reported lost or stolen. Use another card.
36Restricted Card, Retain CardfailedThe bank declined the transaction and wants the card to be kept due to it being reported lost or stolen. Use another card.
37Contact Acquirer Security Department, Retain CardfailedThe bank declined the transaction and wants the card to be kept due to it being reported lost or stolen. Use another card.
38PIN Tries Exceeded, CapturefailedThe bank declined the transaction due to wrong PIN entered three times. It also requested retaining the card. Use another card and contact your bank.
39No Credit AccountfailedThe bank declined the transaction as the card is not linked to a credit account. Use another card.
40Function Not SupportedfailedThe bank declined the transaction as it doesn't allow this type of transaction. Use another card.
41Lost CardfailedThe bank declined the transaction because the card was reported lost. Use another card.
42No Universal AccountfailedThe bank declined the transaction as the account type selected is not valid for this card. Use another card.
43Stolen CardfailedThe bank declined the transaction because the card was reported stolen. Use another card.
44No Investment AccountfailedThe bank declined the transaction as the account type selected is not valid for this card. Use another card.
51Insufficient FundsfailedThe bank declined the transaction due to insufficient funds. Use another card.
52No Cheque AccountfailedThe bank declined the transaction as the linked cheque account does not exist. Use another card.
53No Savings AccountfailedThe bank declined the transaction as the linked savings account does not exist. Use another card.
54Expired CardfailedThe bank declined the transaction because the card has expired. Check the expiry date and retry, or use another card.
55Incorrect PINfailedThe bank declined the transaction due to an incorrect PIN. Re-enter PIN or use another card.
56No Card RecordfailedThe bank declined the transaction because the card number does not exist. Use another card.
57Function Not Permitted to CardholderfailedThe bank declined the transaction because this card can't be used for this transaction. Use another card.
59Suspected FraudfailedThe bank declined this transaction due to suspected fraud.
60Acceptor Contact AcquirerfailedThe bank declined the transaction. Contact your bank and try again.
61Exceeds Withdrawal LimitfailedThe bank declined the transaction as it exceeds the card's limit. Use another card.
62Restricted CardfailedThe bank declined the transaction due to restrictions on the card. Use another card.
63Security ViolationfailedThe bank declined the transaction. Use another card.
64Original Amount IncorrectfailedThe bank declined the transaction due to a wrong amount being processed. Check the amount and retry.
65Exceeds withdrawalfailedThe bank declined the transaction as the withdrawal limit was exceeded. Use another card.
66Acceptor Contact Acquirer, SecurityfailedThe bank declined the transaction and asks the merchant to contact the bank. Use another card.
67Capture CardfailedThe bank declined the transaction as the card is suspected counterfeit and should be kept. Use another card.
75PIN Tries ExceededfailedThe bank declined the transaction because the wrong PIN was entered too many times. Use another card.
82CVV Validation ErrorfailedThe bank declined the transaction because of an incorrect CVV. Check the CVV details and retry. If unsuccessful, use another card.
90Cutoff In ProgressfailedThe bank is temporarily unable to process the card. Try the transaction again later.
91Card Issuer UnavailablefailedThe bank could not be contacted to authorise the transaction. Try again later.
92Unable To Route TransactionfailedThe bank could not be found for routing, often with a test card number. Try the transaction again.
93Cannot Complete, Violation Of The LawfailedThe bank declined the transaction and requests the customer to contact their bank. Use another card.
94Duplicate TransactionfailedThe bank declined the transaction as it seems to be a duplicate. No further action required.
96System ErrorfailedThe bank could not process the transaction. Try again later.
